Quilt Entries

GENERAL INFORMATION

Please consider your quilt items to enter into the show: quilts, wallhangings, tablerunners, handbags, and quilt-related garments. Important things to do ahead:

Open quilt entry form (PDF). Please fill out form on-screen, then print and return. Otherwise, please print clearly.


Quilt Categories

Traditional Quilts

  1. Pieced- Hand Quilted
  2. Appliquéd- Hand Quilted
  3. Mixed, Pieced and Appliquéd - Hand Quilted
  4. Pieced- Machine Quilted
  5. Appliquéd- Machine Quilted
  6. Mixed, Pieced and Appliquéd- Machine Quilted. Note: Quilt Classes 1-6 above have sub classes:
    • AQ Made and quilted by 1 person, Width + Length greater than 120"
    • AW Made and quilted by 1 person, Width + Length less that 120"
    • BQ Made and quilted by 2 people, Basic
    • CQ Made and quilted by 2 people Width + Length greater than 120" Computer Guided
    • DQ Made by 1 person & heirloom quilted by a 2nd person Width + Length greater than 120"
    • BW Made and quilted by 2 people, Width + Length less that 120"

Other Quilt Classes

  1. Whole Cloth Hand Quilted

  5. Miniature Quilts- All aspects are to be in scale to size with no block over 4".

Judged Show Rules

  1. Entry Forms must be postmarked by March 31, 2010. If you must withdraw an entry, please notify us ASAP.
  2. Acceptance of entries is on "first submitted/first accepted" basis up to 250 quilts. This is not a Juried Show. The Entry Form must have all information completed and all required enclosures included for an entry to be processed.
  3. Non Refundable Entry Fee
    Prairie Quilt Guild Member $5.00 per entry
    Non Members $15.00 per entry
  4. Entries will be judged by a NQA Certified judge. A written critique sheet will be provided for each entry.
  5. Entries must have been completed on or after January 1 2008.
  6. Maximum number of entries per exhibitor is one per category up to a total of five (5) items.
  7. PQG considers the entrant to be the "owner" of the quilt. Hence this individual will be the recipient of any prize money and ribbon won.
  8. A quilt consists of three layers: backing, filler, and top, held together with stitching through all three layers. In the Art quilt category and Wearable art category and Other techniques category, entries may consist of at least two layers with sewing or fastening between two layers. Edges should be finished appropriately.
  9. The entries committee, in conjunction with the Judge, reserves the right to make the final placement of quilts in categories.
  10. The Judge may award Monetary Prizes and Best of Category, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place ribbons in each judged category if merited. All awards may not be given in each category, dependent on the quality of entries. All decisions of the Judge are final.
  11. All entries must remain on display for the duration of the show.
  12. Each entry must have a fabric identification label sewn on lower left-hand corner of the back of the quilt. This label must include your name, home address, and title of the quilt. For Judging purposes please safety pin your entry number over this identification tag. Place quilt in the entry bag folded so that the tag shows.
  13. Hand Delivery - entrants will be notified of drop-off sites prior to the show. No exhibits will be accepted after 5pm, June 21st.
  14. Mail Delivery - Exhibits must ARRIVE between Monday, June 14th and Friday, June 18th.

  15. Shipped Return - Entries will be returned via UPS. Exhibitor must include a UPS Print Return Label or a return shipping fee of $20.00 per entry. If you wish to have insurance added, you need to include $3.00 per $500/insurance desired.
  16. Unclaimed entries will become the property of PQG after July 31, 2010.
  17. Insurance - Entries must be covered by owner's personal property insurance.
  18. Photography or Videotaping is allowed for personal use only. Other uses, obtain permission from the show office. PQG reserves the right to use photographs of all entries in PQG related publicity.
