One of the highlights of the day, Saturday, June 23, 2012 will be the "live" Miniature Quilt Auction at noon.

Members of the guild will contribute handmade mini quilts to raise money to support the Educational Grant Program for the next two years. The major goal of the grant program is to make funds available to educational organizations in the surrounding area to help supplement material cost involved in the promotion of the art of quilt making or guilt history.

In the past two years Colvin Elementary 5th graders have made an art project focusing on design, personal memories, goals, aspirations and expression through the quilt medium.
Goddard High School has made crazy quilt pillows and soft sculpture representations of items popular in culture out of fabric with quilting techniques.
The 4th grade girls at Harry Street Elementary learned the art of sewing and quilting.
Nickerson High School students organized and run an annual quilt show. Five hundred people attended the show which showcased over 200 quilts and sewing projects made from both the students and community members.
Norwich High School made Keepsake Quilts for the New Hope Treatment Center. And R. L. Wright Elementary in Sedgwick, KS made quilt squares showing symbols of Kansas.

We are pleased again this year to have McCurdy Auction as our auctioneer for the Miniature Quilt Auction. The mini quilts will be on display Thursday, Friday and Saturday before the auction. Come visit the exhibit, pick up a bidding number and join the auction at noon.

I would like to encourage all guild members to either donate a mini quilt, runner, or topper that they make or make through their bee. The guidelines for the quilts are:

Size - maximum 160" perimeter (40 X 40)
Have a sleeve or hanger (rings) in intended to hang
Have a label with your name, date and title
